[Wisdom Teeth Extraction and Trip to Ohio]
Today I got my wisdom teeth pulled out...all 4 of them!! It wasn't actually that painful after they shot me up with 5 units of anaesthetics. My jaw felt completely numb after the surgery and so eating became a huge pain in the butt. During lunch this afternoon, I got congee dripping all over my chin without knowing it...how nasty is that? Well this just means I'll won't be out and about this weekend (possibly my 2nd last weekend in TO) and forced to eat mush. Not to mention my cheeks are due to swell up like a chipmunk by tomorrow. =( I'm popping super strength Tynenol #2 every 4 hours now just to get rid of the pain. Ashley and Maggie dropped by tonight with ice cream (YUM YUM!) to see how I was. Thanks guys!! I'm definitely feeling the love. =)

Now for a recap of the past 4 days which my family and I spent in Ohio. Our first destination was Cleveland, home of rock and roll. At Cleveland, we toured the SS COD which was a submarine used durign WW2 and the Cold War. The soldiers lived in very cramped quarters but that was made up for by other luxuries especially foodwise. Damn...they had a deep fryer on the thing!! The William G Mathers, which was the cargo ship we toured next was pretty neat itself. The captain sure got it good with his "presidential" suite equiped with his personal kitchen, entertainment room, guest rooms and multiple bathrooms. The engineers on board didn't have it so bad either. They all got at least their own private baths. Daniel and I kept arguing about who gets to be the first engineer. Obviously that would be me. He'll be my assistant. =P

Day 2 in Colombus, Ohio was definitely the highlight of the trip. At night we caught a showing of the Phantom of the Opera at the Ohio Theatre. The performance was absolutely spectacular! The ticket price was even more so! It really doesn't get any better than $20 US per ticket. For the rest of the night, Daniel proceeded to entertain the whole family with his renditions of all the songs. That's my silly brother for you. =)

A night out at The Phantom of the Opera
Next day, we checked out the Titanic artifacts exhibition at the COSI, which is Colombus' own science center. It was pretty neat actually. They showcased a lot of items that were gathered over the years during several dives to the Titanic site. Surprisingly a lot of things were still in pretty good shape especially stuff you wouldn't have expected to have survived like money and postcards. Another thing that was pretty neat were these fake boarding passes that the guides handed out at the beginning of the tour. Each boarding pass had the name of a different passenger (real ones that actually sailed on the Titanic in 1912). Near the end of the tour, there was a giant wall listing the names of those that had survived and died during the sinking. Mine and daddy's persons survived! =) Poor mommy and Daniel's weren't so lucky.
After that we made the drive out to Pittsburg (not before hitting up the 1st Wendy's and a nearby White Castle! =P) where the only remotely interesting thing to do was to ride the old cable cars up to Mount Washington. The view of Pittsburg from up there was amazing especially when the sun was about to set at the time we were there. Then we saw some guy walking past with a giant banana split and that's how the craving spread. That was one good banana split.

The next day we visited Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater. Fallingwater is a home built by Wright for the Kaufmann family and the unique thing about it was it was built on top of a waterfall. It was specially designed to be in perfect harmony with the natural surroundings. As nice as it was, I don't think I'd enjoy living there. There are just way too many psychos out there that might just spy on you from the woods.

And that concludes family vacation 2005.
