Today is the first day the "girls from apt #4" actually spent some good quality time together. Let's recap shall we? A free friday afternoon and no more food in the fridge prompted us to make a run to Loblaws. Bibs was working tonight, so the four of us, Karen, Chloe, Emily and me set off to shop prepared with our empty backpacks and surprisingly didn't get any suspicious looks from security. =P What was supposed to be a quick trip to pick up the essentials turned in a 2 hour "mmm...this looks yummy, I'll take it" a-thon, we came out of there with what I would guess to be close to $100 dollars worth of groceries. Then came the hard part, lugging it all home. There we were waiting at the bus stop, shivering and hungry with ironically so much food while having a good laugh about how much worse the situation could have been if it had been winter and we coming home from food basic...nooo the horror!
By the time we got back to our apartment it was past 9 and no one felt much like cooking so we headed out for Filet-o-Fish night at good old Micky D's. Our dinner conversation which started off so innocent turned into a grade 8 sex ed lesson and ended with a scare from a certain psycho named Vivian. We were in the midst of conversation when she stopped outside the window where we were sitting and just stared at us with her widened freaky blue contact-ed eyes. OMG it'll be a miracle if we don't all get nightmares of that image tonight! What a night!! This is going to be a very interesting year...

Trying to buy used texts is becoming a real nightmare!! Classes have started, assignments are starting to pour in and you're getting desperate, yet those sellers out there just seem to be taking their sweet time in replying to your e-mails!! GRRR...you can't do this to me!! I'm not a frosh!! As of now, I still have zero textbooks on hand. What is a poor, textbook-less girl to do?? =(

AHHHH!!!!
SOOO much has happened today (good and unfortunately bad too) has happened today that if I don't blog about it soon, I'm going to explode!! Good news first or bad?? I guess bad first then good to leave everyone in a happy mood. =P
BAD NEWS:
I quit my job at Stauffer Library today for reasons that I will explain later. Needless to say, the man that hired me in the first place wasn't too happy about that. I don't blame him really... I haven't even gone through a week at the job and already I'm quitting. I'd probably be a bit angry and annoyed too if I were in his position. =( Second bad thing that happened...I MISSED MY LAB!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG...I hope I didn't just screw myself over because of that. It's actually quite a stupid reason why I missed it. My friend and I are in the same program and a quite small one too so naturally we have most of the same classes, tutorials and labs. Anyway, we got our timetables mixed up all because I assumed too much! I remember seeing on my timetable that our lab was in this one building but she kept insisting that it was in a another. I don't blame her at all though because it's totally my responsibility to check when and where my own classes are. So the lesson learned today is if in doubt, check the damn schedule!!
Now on to the GOOD NEWS!:
I found my dream job!! Or more like my dream job found me! =P I got a call this afternoon from a biotech company that wanted to interview me for a lab research assistant position. I went in, things went super and I got the job!! Yay for me!! =D Hence the reason I had to quit the library job. Despite that the whole ordeal made me feel like a total scumbag (hahaha...Newstead's, my all-time favorite prof's, favourite word), I firmly believe that I made the right choice. This new job is a bajillion times better than the library job and it'll look great too to future Chem Eng employers. Yays!! =D
So in conclusion, with the good and bad of today I guess I have to admit that the good far outweighs the bad. A missed lab and the wrath of a former employer is nothing that getting my dream job can't cure! =)

Hey everyone... I'm blogging from the library still so that means still no internet for me =( As if things couldn't get any worse, my apartment sprung a major leak today. A storm that happened overnight left our apartment flooded in every room and so for the entire morning and good part of the afternoon, my housemates and I have been getting down on our hands and knees mopping up the mess. Bibs' room (with the N64 inside!) was thankfully not flooded. That lucky girl!! It's actually quite miraculous though considering she has just a mattress laid down on the floor as a bed. I can't even imagine the craziness of it all IF her room had been as messed up as the rest of ours. The worst part is there's nothing we can do to prevent this from happening in the future and in a place like Kingston, I can guarantee you that it can and will!! If it's not pouring rain outside, there's a blizzard and the strong winds on top of that don't make things any better! I remember MANY umbrellas lost last year due to Kingston's freak weather. So far the super is saying there's not much he can do if we can't pinpoint where the water is coming in from. OMG this sucks!!! =(

Some happy news to ease up on the misery. I finally found a job...at the school library!! =) Granted it isn't exactly the dream job I was hoping for of doing some chem related stuff in the lab but having something at least is a huge relief. I had my first training session today taking a long tour of the whole 5 floors of the library and learning the shelving system. It's not too complicated at all and I'm glad to report that I'm picking it up pretty quickly. =) Training session number 2 is tomorrow!! Hope it goes just as well. =)

Wahhhhh....need....to.....VENT!!!
I knew that this week alone in Kingston was going to be a bore but this is way worse than I imagined!! I've been here 5 days now with no housemates, no internet and worst of all no phone!! The phone line was supposed to be connected on Monday but stupid Bell didn't get around to connecting it until today! They said there must be some problem with the wiring in my apartment and that they needed to send a repair guy to check it out. Then when I called them again today to ask them what time they'll be here, they said between the hours of 12 to 9pm!! OMG!! That's like the whole day there that I'm to spend sitting around in my empty apartment waiting for a repair guy who may or may not show up. And what if he did?! The intercom doesn't even work without a phone line so how do I even know when he gets here?! So what do I do? Drag my laptop to the balcony window so I can watch my movies and keep an eye out for the guy. Turns out that he didn't have to come. The phone line started working at around 3 except that the jack in my room and one of my housemates room still isn't working but Bell isn't going to fix that for us without us paying them for it. GRRR!!! This whole thing has been a nightmare. Save me someone before I'm driven insane!!!!!!!
Other than that...Kingston is the same as I remembered it. Not much has changed except that A&P got a major facelift, they have rotisserie chicken now!! And the ILC is finally complete. It's quite beautiful actually with all the landscaping around it. There are a few pictures I took during my stroll around campus, lakeside, harbour and downtown which you can find in Webshots. Nice days sure make these lonely days a tad more bearable...
