Oh jackie...such a BAD influence!! She keeps tempting me to go shopping and almost always I give in. I really should start learning to resist her charms...no that's a clearly inappropriate word....WILES! We ended up spending a couple of hours in downtown Kingston drifting between boutiques and at one of them I was able to score a very cute pair of flip flops. Now if only they had been on sale...but I got them anyway to make up for the disappointing outcome of last friday's shopping trip. Light brown with pink straps and sooo comfortable!! and also found a nice present for an upcoming birthday....i wonder who... Hope she likes it cuz I sure do!

poor Jackie wanted to get flip flops too but none of the stores carried kid sizes. hahahah sorry Jacko!! I hope you don't cry cuz mommy's not gonna be here to drive you to another mall. =P You'll have better luck on friday, I'm sure of it!

And now back to 190...ahhhhhhh 1 night to write 12 weeks worth of journal entries!! I wonder if it's possible...

********

THAT'S IT!!! SHE ASKED FOR THIS!!
Anyways...today we were discussing the names of Jackie's future kids. She came up with a bunch of weird ass crap like "Codderra" and "Condelua" something like that... HAHAHA fitting I guess, since these are the kids that she'll be sharing with Ratty!!

Being an unusually nice day in K-town today, it was Pat's idea to go do some "studying" by the lake. As expected...not much studying came from me =P

Day 2 of RAD (stands for Rape Agression Defense) is now over and I'm still left standing (no black eye!!). No more waking up early on a saturday morning to spend 6 hours cooped up in a lower vic room. Despite those not-so good things, RAD was the most fun I've had in a while. They really didn't lie when they told us that we'd come out of it feeling incredibly empowered. As I mentioned before, this week was the week we did simulation. There were four simulations in total:

1) The Walk By
2) The "G...." effect
3) ATM
4) (forgot what it's called... but it involved the agressors whispering offensive things to you to piss you off enough to want to pummel them)

An agressor...this is who I was up against!! GO GO POWER RANGERS!! =P

(pictures of me beating the crap out of this guy - available soon!)

I did all three of them (simulations that is!! Sick sick jacko!) and had a blast!! Mostly I was just amazed at how effect a single strike could be. I was able to knock down a guy twice my size with just a single closed-fist strike to the face!! Pretty cool cuz if you know me, I don't really seem like such a tough person but now I feel like I am. Funniest thing was that as soon as you knock the agressor, the control monitor is supposed to blow the whistle to signal that it's over, but after the guy who was attacking me was down, I didn't hear anything. So then I was all ready in my defensive stance to deliver another blow when I look down and this guy is just flailing around, waving his hands to tell me no more. At that moment I just bursted out laughing and everyone watching was just ahhh you just beated up the guy and then now you're laughing in his face! Well serves him right for trying to "rape" me!! OMG...I've asked for a copy of the video showing that so maybe I'll be able to put it up later on! =) I'm actually quite proud of how I did today. We all looked super cool out there!

Anyway, dinner at Little Saigon AGAIN!! hahahaha just can't get enough of their delicious beef pho and spring rolls which jackie still calls spring "rows". During dinner we had a very interesting conversion about Chinese names. Viv was trying to teach us how to pronounce her name in Cantonese but Jackie couldn't do it without sounding like a complete CBC. I told them my name too and how my uncle's chinese name is just like Leon Lai's but with a "big" in so it becomes "lai dai ming"... Anyway, BIG mistake... They think it's funny now to start calling me "lai siu ming" ("siu" meaning small). AHHHH I don't want to be a guy!!!! =( Oh...all the stupid conversations we have...I'll miss them in the summer.

BOOO!!!!
The dress that I wanted from rw and co not only wasn't on sale, it was no longer in stock in the Kingston store!! Double boo!!!! I thought 3 weeks would be enough time for it to go on sale so I can go back at get it but was I ever wrong. =( I'm so sad... And so to cheer myself up, I ate lots of good food like Harvey's (mmm...don't get that much around here) and shrimp tempura udon at Asha. YUM YUM! Oh...and PL's were on sale so I got some of those... yay?? At least the other two had lots of fun, Viv got new runners which she was in desperate need of and Jackie...well Jackie just couldn't control herself. The girl went on a mad shopping spree!! Nobody was able to stop her. Viv had just found out this week that Kingston did in fact have a Jacob contrary to previous belief. So we decided to check it out today. Not only did they Jacob, there was also Buffalo, Old Navy, Adidas, La Vie en Rose and a whole slew of other good stores. I was soooo excited to go but as it turns out there wasn't much that I liked and was on sale so I ended up not getting much. Oh well, better luck next time...or maybe this is a sign that I should seriously start looking for that summer job so that I can actually afford to spend money

Funny thing is, remember how last time we took the bus to the mall, Jackie was attacked by that old lady with the shorts? Well, we were joking around saying that she's going to be on the bus again this time and coicidentally she was!! This time we knew to avoid trouble before it began and promptly moved to the rear of the bus. =)

Conclusion of the day:
Jackie and "Ratty" - match made in heaven... =P

Jackie is a sick sick sick sick person who likes areas and apparently feces too!!

I got 9.5 points, what about you??

Dinner was yummy today! Reshika was supposed to take us for some Indian food but she just found out she had an apsc 190 presentation tomorrow and had to cancel BUT Little Saigon did not disappoint! I had tried this place with my family on Friday already but couldn't resist going back for more. Man I'm so full right now and we didn't even get the spring rolls!

After dinner, as we were walking back to campus we passed by Tim Horton's and Viv revealed something very shocking about their coffee. Her friend once had some coffee from Tim Horton's and ended up getting an allergic reaction to it because apparently their coffee, ICE CAP INCLUDED!!, contains nicotine! Sounds strange and at first I didn't really believe it. So we went inside to do some research but of course the server wouldn't say anything with all the other customers around. She said that it's just normal coffee and that it couldn't possibly contain nicotine and that we could talk to the head office if we liked but they'd probably just tell us the same thing. We still believe that she's either lying or just doesn't know what the hell she's talking about because afterall she is just a lowly coffee shop worker, just like I used to be and I can assure you that I still don't know what the heck is in all the stuff they sell at Timothy's. So, it looks like it's time to break out into research mode... I'll keep you posted on this matter.

Oh and it has also been concluded that boys are stupid and we should fling poop at them.

** SPECIAL UPDATE **
The claim that Tim Horton's coffee contains nicotine is apparently just an urban legend and has no truth behind it at all. Tim Horton's has made an official statement about that somewhere and I would post it up if only that page would work. Sorry for worrying anybody, now please go drink your coffee in peace.

Man...these two guys must have been bored out of their minds to do something like this, making up a whole song about milk and different kinds of cereal. But wow can they sing!! =) Funniest thing ever!! Check it out now!

YAWN!!
I'm so tired like you wouldn't believe. I had to drag myself out of bed this morning to attend a rape defence class which lasted for 6 whole hours. Consequently, I am now dead tired but feeling really great about myself. We were taught many different striking and kicking techniques, specifically how to smash either a guy's face OR his groin in. Boys beware!! hahaha!! =P But of course I doubt I'll ever have to resort to that kind of violence. It really is amazing at how much strength each of us have inside though like me for example. I doubt anyone would really consider me to be loud or tough but out there today, all of us were just yelling our heads off and packing in all these powerful punches and kicks. I was completely shocked at the abilities of Chloe and Vivian (two of my future housemates) who are both just your typical nice quiet asian girls. Chloe has always been quiet even from day one that I met her, but when necessary she can really let out an earsplitting "NOOo!!" As for Vivian, her facial expression as she drove those punches scared me into never ever doing anything to piss her off again! =P This was such a great experience. Next week will be an opportunity for us to try out the techniques that we learned in a simulated attack.

Yesterday was Friday which means an evening of relaxation and movies. My family came up to visit me with lots of presents from my mom's recent trip to HK. Got lots of fobby stuff like makeup, fob shirts and bags but sadly some things were just too fobby to suit me. Movies included The Last Samurai which was a very long but moving one. Plus I finally got the time to watch 8 Mile yesterday. It was a pretty awesome movie. I didn't really like Eminem before but after watching the movie I was really amazed how talented he really is and how underneath the badboy exterior, he is actually a good person. Suddenly those songs that Jackie sent me aren't so irritating anymore =P You're also right about him being pretty hot... =P

YAY!!
I just solved my java program so to celebrate I think I deserve some time to blog! Another 100% for me tomorrow YIPEE! Anyway the funny story for today has got to be about Reshika (opps..i mean REKISHA'S) Indian music videos. They were sooo funny that I almost got a heart attack from laughing so much, really. I felt like I had to control myself or else my heart would have exploded. The singer, John Abrahim was prancing around the screen declaring his love for this monk girl, a love that could never be because she is afterall a MONK. Then suddenly out of nowhere he sings "my love is like a terrified deer" and I'm just thinking "What the heck does THAT mean?!?!" How romatic...is your love about to be hunted down or something?? I see no connection between the two things. Besides the ridiculous translations I must admit that he's not a bad looking guy although he'll never par up to my beautiful Phong! I'll post up some pics and a link to this guy's music video as soon as I get back to rez so you can all have a good laugh.

THis is the guy!!

not bad at all...

WAHH!! Today I saw a guy at McDonald's with the craziest moustache ever and it was scary!! He had a thin moustache above his mouth and this tiny goattee going on on the bottom. Normally, I guess this can look good on some guys but on this guy it was hideous especially because it looked like he put some sort of gel in it and had the top spiked up like devil horns and the goattee spiked down. And his hair was all curly and stringy from all the gel left over from his moustache job. And what was worse was that he kept trying to talk to everyone especially little kids. I don't think he actually was but he looked very much like your typical child molester. Looked like a total freak. I was so scared...

Just take a look:

As promised to Jackie, here is my blog for the day...
Not much to report except that I once again failed my Java quizzes...damn java...death by java really wasn't an overstatement. If this keeps up, I probably will fail java and have to be forced to take CISC 101 in the fall. NOOOOOOOO!!!!! Please!!! 50% is all I ask...I won't even be greedy for 51! hahaha memories of 190 =P

...which brings me to the 190 group meeting we had today! *sigh* that totally useless class is becoming a huge pain in my ass. After today, I'm not so sure I'm going to pass that course either. Our group report came back today and we got a 53% which was about average among all the other groups but only because those people wrote dumb things. For example, one group wrote that an existing community should relocate all their buildings to the south end of the city because then it will be warmer. O....K.... or yet in another instance, one group wrote that they should flatten out the land because it is bumpy. Ok seriously it's THOSE type of people that deserve the fifties because compared to their stuff, our report is sheer genius! Our ideas were actually very practical such as harnessing methane gas releases at landfill sites to burn and produce energy, promoting composting, improving bus routes to minimize air pollution, increasing tourism to improve economy and attracting large companies to provide more jobs to the people were just a few examples of the things that were written in our report. But no...the markers had to be mean. It was like "OH...they didn't mention where the landfill is going to be, minus 20%!" Honestly, I think they're really out there to get us.

A nice end to the week from hell

Seriously this week has been the week from hell. I'm completely and utterly sleep deprived and my brain is fried and STILL I have nothing to show for it. Damn physics...DIE DIE DIE!!! Thank goodness there is at least one marginally good mall around for me to run to for comfort. What can I say? Kingston shopping is pretty crappy. An interesting thing happened on the busride. Jackie did a pretty good job of summing up the event in her blog and so me being lazy will just quote her here. Oh no....I hope she doesn't sue me for plagiarism =P

Jackie said...
AND THEN HERE'S THE STORY OF THE MONTH:

OK. So we got onto a bus to get to the mall and sat down at the seats at the front near the bus driver. As since it was raining and stuff I was just trying to get water out of my hair when this old lady that was sitting across from us said really loudly "HI". So we're like "HI", thinking she just wants to be friendly and stuff. And then she turns to me and said something but since I wasn't really paying attention i didn't hear her. So i was like "pardon me?" and she was like "DO YOU WEAR SHORTS?" So there i was thinking....ooook, but because she's old and everything i didn't want to be rude, so i just said "Yes". And then she was like "DO YOU WEAR SHORTS IN THE SUMMER?" and i was like whatever, i'll just entertain this poor old lady. So i said yes.

AND THEN SHE REACHED INTO HER BAG, GRABBED A PAIR OF SHORTS AND THREW THEM AT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted to scream but i didn't, and the pair of shorts landed on my arm, and i was thinking"what the fuck, this is disgusting"...So i just left them on the rail next to me, and the old woman is like "PUT THEM IN YOUR BAG". And this point, i was getting annoyed, so i said "No, its ok. I'll just leave them here, I'll remember to take them." and then she gave me a "look" and repeated "PUT THEM IN YOUR BAG NOW" and then she turned to pearl and said "TELL YOUR FRIEND TO PUT THEM IN HER BAG." So poor pearl and i, we didn't know what to do, so pearl turned to me and told me to put the shorts in my bag. At this point, i was soooo scared that i just did as i was told. And then I got up and moved to the back of the bus, took the shorts out and left them on one of the seats.

***

To be fair, this lady did not intentionally try to freak anyone out especially poor Jackie. This is the second time I've seen this woman on the bus and I remember her behaviour to be same. In her mind, I'm sure her intentions were good but being unused to dealing with people with mental illnesses, I don't think we necessarily handled the situation very well. =(

The rest of the afternoon was filled with lots of good shopping and good food. I was completely blown away by the massive sale at RW and Co. Jackets, shirts, dresses and skirts for $10?! I've never seen anything like it! We both ended up getting jackets reduced from $60 to $80. Needless to say, we were VERY satisfied with our purchases...an instant boost on my happy meter! =) They had very nice dresses as well unfortunately those weren't on sale =( They better watch out cuz I'll be stalking that place and make that sexy little black dress mine the second it goes on sale!

AND I must not forget to mention those delicious spring rolls!! Vietnamese people really do know how to make good spring rolls. Theirs beat the ones at "yum cha" any day! mmm....*drools* spring rolls....it's quite possible i like them even better than fried eggs!
